These early versions were the British production models that Burke licensed from his American patented designs for the UK market whilst working alongside legendary designers such as Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson and Alexander Girard. Burke established his reputation as a furniture designer in the 1950s -70s with an impressive client list that included G-Plan, Parker Knoll, Greaves & Thomas, Uniflex, Race Furniture & Heals and Son in London. Several of his designs were selected for the Design Council & Design Index representing the best of British design in the UK. Burkes Tulip & Star series were famously used in the ground breaking futuristic Star Trek series of the 1960’s, cementing his name as one of the most prolific innovators of Midcentury design.
The table is executed in heavy moulded cast aluminium & formica finished in a protective white Rilsan coating & the tabletop is satin smooth laminate wood veneer. It features the cast iron Arkana stamp to bottom of foot; a feature that makes the table incredibly stable as opposed to the many light weight reproductions currently available
